What are the recent trends you have noticed in the industry?
Customers are purchasing more mini loaders and excavators. These machines are ideal for the average tradesperson to tow behind their work vehicle and use on day-to-day jobs. Demand for mini loaders is giving way to excavators as an alternative and versatile tool for the landscape and construction industries.
What are the most important things to consider when choosing equipment?
Price should not be the only factor, performance, reliability, comfort, maintenance and residual value should also be important deciding factors. We discuss with our customers their requirements to find the best machine for their needs.
What are some of the best features that Takeuchi have over other brands?
Takeuchi are truly a unique machine, designed and built in Japan, Takeuchi have a lot of features that make them stand out from the rest. For example, the triple flange track rollers helps with balance and stops de-tracking. The deluxe high back suspension seat provides the operator with maximum comfort and posterior support. Takeuchi machines are fitted with an intuitive joystick control, allowing the operator to make fine adjustments while not losing any power. Takeuchi have not cut corners to save on build cost and it is shown in the longevity and cost of ownership of Takeuchi machines.
What have you been most surprised about since moving to New Zealand?
How different the construction industry is compared to Australia. I have been around construction sites since 2000 and thought I was pretty knowledgeable, but I was surprised how much I have had to learn about the different ground here in New Zealand.
What do you love about the South Island?
I love the weather which is pretty uncommon for people who live in the South Island but coming from Australia where it is hot in winter and extremely hot in Summer, I enjoy the 4 seasons we get here. I also like accessible everything is – I can be on the ski field in the morning and then having a beer overlooking the beach in the evening.
